My gums hurt. How can I know if I have periodontal disease?
Take a Self-Evaluation Quiz To See If You Have Periodontal Disease
Periodontal diseases are serious bacterial infections that destroy attachment fibers and supporting bone that hold teeth in the mouth. Approximately 15 % of adults between 21-50 and 30% of adults over 50 have this disease.
You may not realize that persistent swollen, red or bleeding gums, tooth sensitivity, and bad breath are warning signs of periodontal (gum) disease — a serious infection that, left untreated, can lead to tooth loss.
PERIODONTAL DISEASE IS USUALLY A PAINLESS PROGRESSIVE DISEASE
